Guy Hirson

Guy Hirson is a Principal Engineer employed by NDS in the UK in the role of Standards Engineer. He currently represents the company at a number of international standards forums, including DAVIC and the ATM Forum. He will also be attending IETF meetings and has previously been involved in MPEG and DVB specifications as well.

Guy’s department in NDS is also responsible for strategy and review in the medium term planning of the company (the 2-5 year time frame) and he is consequently involved in a number of strategic planning groups within his own company.

NDS is an engineering design and production house for MPEG-2 based broadcast systems, primarily producing compression and conditional access systems for satellite and terrestrial broadcast of ATSC and DVB MPEG-2 signals. They currently represent the world’s largest base of digital Conditional Access consumers and the largest base of DVB compliant MPEG-2 encoding systems for public Television broadcast. They are also contracted to provide 90% of the DTV modulation equipment for the UK and a large proportion of the compression systems as well.

NDS has design and support facilities in Hampshire (UK), Heathrow/Maidenhead (UK) and Jerusalem (Israel) as well as further support centres in the US and Australasia.
