Gyu Taek LEE
Gyu Taek LEE joined DAEWOO Electronics Co., Ltd. In 1991 as a research engineer with the master degree on ‘Control & Instrumentation’ at Seoul National University in Korea. He was sponsored by DAEWOO to undertake Ph. D. Degree on the area mentioned previously. He graduated in 1995 with Ph. D. Degree. He then joined the Video Research Center as a Senior Research Engineer at DAEWOO Electronics Labs, Seoul, Korea.
During his 8 years at DAEWOO Labs, his career has focused on the research, development and practical design of the interactive multimedia (IMM) solutions including ATM, MPEG and DAVIC. He has headed the team named IMM, which has developed the MHEG, the DSM-CC and the Multimedia STB with high-speed access network interfaces.
In 1994 he became the King of the Inventors in DAEWOO with about 150 patents.
In August 1997 he was appointed head of the IMM Team at Digital TV Research Center.
In December 1997 he became the Chairman of the CMTT Technical Committee within the Telecommunication Technology Association (TTA), which is the national standardization organization.
In January 1998 he became the Chairman of the 'Software' Technical Committee within the intelligent PCTV (iPCTV) Project, which is the national project sponsored by the Korean Government (Ministry of Industry & Resources) and has DAEWOO, KBS (Korean Broadcasting System), LG, Samsung, etc. as its members.
In August 1998 he became the Chairman of the Intelligent TV (I-TV), which is the national project sponsored by the Korean Government (Ministry of Information & Communication) and has DAEWOO, ETRI, Hyundai, Korea Telecom, LG, Samsung, etc. as its members.
He has over 400 patents to his name in the field of the IMM and has published/presented over 20 domestic/international papers on the topic.
He currently heads the Interactive Multimedia Team in DAEWOO, which has developed versatile S/W’s for Digital TV and the STB’s for iPCTV & I-TV.
He is married with a daughter. He likes some sports and various genres of music
