Joined Philips-Sweden 1970, at Color TV development. Started first New Media group within Philips in 1976, including Laser Disc, Home Terminals, Home Computers, Teletext, and direct satellite broadcast.
Moved to Philips headquarters in Eindhoven, Holland in 1980, as head of Compact Disc Laboratory. Started CDROM development in 1983. Has 25 years of Consumer Electronics experience, with a track record of successful introduction of new multimedia products as Laser Disc, Compact Disc, CDROM, CDi, Photo-CD, and Video-CD.
Is inventor and co-designer of the Optical Disc standards; Laser Disc, CD-Digital Audio (Red book), CD-Graphics, CD-ROM (Yellow book), CD-ROM XA, CD-I (Green Book), Photo-CD ( with Kodak ), and Video-CD (White book). .
Is holder of many patents in the field of Laser disc, CDROM, Bridge, CDi, Photo-CD, and more. .
Was head of the Dutch delegation for MPEG-1.
